For example, with the help of AI, I was able to DOUBLE my income last year without working more hours.

My business model didn’t change. I didn’t hire anyone. The only thing that changed was how I used AI to work more productively and efficiently.

So I thought I’d share some of the ways that I’m currently using AI to make money in 2023.

1. YouTube

So I thought I’d share some of the ways that I’m currently using AI to make money in 2023.

1. YouTube

So I thought I’d share some of the ways that I’m currently using AI to make money in 2023.

1. YouTube

I’ve been creating faceless YouTube channels for a few years now.

At this point, I have a few dozen channels in various “boring” niches. But combined, they add up to a substantial monthly income from both YouTube Adsense and affiliate products.

Most of the videos I create are evergreen, meaning the content should be relevant for at least a few years.

I also create videos around products that I can promote using an affiliate link, so the videos start earning right away, even if the channel isn’t monetized with Adsense.

However, coming up with video topics, titles, and scripts takes a lot of time, especially when you’re a soloprenuer who is always juggling a dozen projects.

Last year I started using the Jasper AI writing assistant to help speed up the process.

Jasper is able to come up with video topic ideas, SEO-optimized titles, script outlines, hooks, and an introduction.

Once I have my outline, I can use Jasper’s “Compose” feature to fill in the blanks for each section of my script.

Here’s a basic example of what this looks like on my end:

From there, I record a voiceover for the video using the script and pair it with a “faceless” tutorial-style video.

Jasper can also write SEO-optimized YouTube descriptions.

2. Digital Products

I’ve been creating simple digital products like ebooks, workbooks, audiobooks for over a decade now.

Man, I’m getting old.

Each one is a tiny asset that add income to my business.

And let me tell you, it ADDS UP!

Digital products have always been fairly easy to create and sell, but with the help of AI tools like Jasper, the process of creating content is even easier and faster.

Here’s an example —

Let’s say that I have an idea for a digital “workbook” to help self-employed people manage their money better.

First, this is a topic I know a little something about because I’ve been self-employed for a very long time. Notice I’m NOT relying on Jasper, or, god forbid, ChaptGPT, to give me accurate information.

Hot Take: Don’t make digital products with AI on topics you don’t know anything about.

However, in order to speed up the idea generation/outlining process, I would use Jasper’s “chat” feature to come up with an outline for my workbook.

I used the prompt: Write an outline for a workbook titled “Money Management for Freelancers.”

Here’s what I got:

I generally don’t use the outputs Jasper gives me as-is, but it's usually a great starting point.

Best of all, this took 30 seconds, whereas it may have taken me 10–30 minutes to come up with a similar outline on my own.

From there, I can ask Jasper to suggest content for each section, which I can revise and edit to my liking.

I also add in my own thoughts, examples, section titles, paragraphs, etc.

Remember, this is a tool to ASSIST, not REPLACE you.

Then I take the content and format it as a PDF workbook using Canva.

From there, I upload it to ConvertKit — which is one of my favorite platforms for selling digital products — and then run low-cost Pinterest ads ($.10 to $.15 CPC) to make sales.

First, let me just say that I have a long and sorted history with online courses.

However, I honestly think online courses are STILL one of the most effective ways to make serious income online in 2023.

From 2013 to 2019, I ran my business as a personal brand. As part of that, I sold online courses where I was the instructor and the face of my business.

The amazing thing about selling courses as a personal brand (opposed to a publisher brand) was that my courses sold really well because people could connect with me personally.

The not-so-amazing part was that I got REALLY burned out doing it.

So I pulled the plug on my old online courses and changed to a publisher model.

Today I still create online courses, but I do it as a PUBLISHER and not as a personal brand. In other words, I am no longer the face of my business.

You will not see my face teaching a course anywhere on the internet.

Instead, I create niche brands around specific topics, then create online courses to sell in connection with the brand.

The process of using Jasper to help create an online course is very similar to the process used to create any other digital product.

It starts with asking Jasper to come up with title ideas and a sample outline for the course.

Here’s an example:

From here, I would follow a similar process to creating a digital product or YouTube video script — just fill in the sections on my own or with Jasper’s help.

Once I’m happy with the script, I might hire a freelancer on Fiverr to record the lessons or do a voice-over with a tutorial or presentation-style video.

I prefer to sell my online courses using either Teachable or Thinkific.

However, if you don’t want to invest in a course platform that you control, you can always upload your content to Udemy or Skillshare.

But just be aware that you‘ll be at the mercy of their ever-changing rules.

4. Affiliate Content

If you’ve ever typed “how to make money online” into a search engine, I bet one of the first things you saw was “affiliate marketing.”

Affiliate marketing is great because you get paid for promoting someone else’s product.

There’s no customer service, no inventory, no overhead.

Just profit.

The problem with affiliate marketing is that it’s really hard to make money with it if you don’t know how to create affiliate content that leads to a sale.

This is where most people get stuck.

It’s a lot like that episode of South Park where the underpants gnomes try to explain how they plan to make money stealing people’s underpants…

Phase 1: Steal underpants

Phase 2: …???…

Phase 3: Profit!!!

But what happens in Phase 2?

In the affiliate marketing world, Phase 2 is the content and messaging that is used to convince someone to purchase the product you are promoting so that you can make a commission.

As it turns out, this part is really difficult for most people.

But that’s where AI can help.

Jasper has several templates that I’ve found to be incredibly useful when it comes to creating content to promote affiliate products.

Those are:

AIDA Framework,
PAS Framework,
Persuasive Bullet Points
Before-After-Bridge Framework,
Mini VSL (video sales letter), and
Landing page template.

These are marketing templates that you can enter information into about the product you want to sell, and they will help you write persuasive content that you can use on your website, in an email newsletter, on social media, YouTube, TikToc videos, etc.

Alternatively, you can use the Jasper Chat feature and ask it to write you an article, sales pages, social media post, etc., to sell whatever it is that you are trying to sell.

Here’s a really simple example of using Jasper to write affiliate content.

For this example, I’m going to go to Amazon and click on this random dog feeder and water dispenser.

If you’re in the Amazon Associates program, you could make about $3 every time someone clicks your link and buys this product:

All you have to do is copy the product title and description right from the Amazon page and pop it into Jasper.

Here I’m using the AIDA marketing framework in Jasper to create my content:

Then I could use this script for a TikTok video, social media post, ad, or as the start of a longer review article that compares more than one product.

This is a really simple example, but I think you get the gist of it.

5. Publishing

I left this one for last because I know it’s *kinda* controversial.

I know there are people out there creating garbage content in mass quantities using ChatGPT and trying to sell it as a “book” on Amazon.

I am going to strongly encourage you NOT to do that because I don’t think those people are going to win in the long term.

First of all, Amazon isn’t dumb.

I snoop around Facebook and Discord groups dedicated to self-publishing, and people that try to game the system are getting their accounts shut down in droves.

I just read a story about some guy that was making six figures a MONTH on Amazon KDP and then got his account shut down for some TOS violation for using AI content that was plagiarized. It’s just not worth the gamble.

If you want to build a sustainable business in the self-publishing world that has longevity, be very careful when it comes to AI-generated content, especially if you are publishing on Amazon.

At the very least, you better be adding a lot of your own content, rewording anything AI-generated, editing, proofreading, and running it through a plagiarism checker.

Better still, if you can afford to hire an editor.

But that being said, there are still some ethical use cases for AI when it comes to publishing.

Here are a few ways I’m using it in my publishing business in 2023:

Idea generation
Outline organization
Title/subtitle ideas
Book descriptions
Sales page content.

I have so much more I could say about this, but I think I’ll leave it at that for now.

15. Respondent

Respondent is one of the best places to get paid for sharing your knowledge and experience. Unlike other similar websites which pay you pennies on the dollar for completing tasks, Respondent is one of the very few websites that will pay you anywhere from $100 to $750 an hour just for participating in studies.

Now, I know that sounds way too good to be true which is why I did some digging. What I found was that on highly reputable sites like G2, Respondent received a 4.5 out of 5-star review out of over 150 reviews and was even rewarded a 2023 winter leader badge from G2.
How to Get Started

Getting started is easy simply sign up using a work email on the website, personalize your skills and interests, and then Respondents algorithm will send you research studies based on your professional experience.

After you finish each project, you’ll be paid via PayPal where you can then transfer the money from your PayPal account over to your bank account. Although a work email is required to sign up, the payouts on this site be any other focus group website that I’ve seen.

14. ProdcutTube

Basically, everyone has to go shopping at the grocery store, but what if you could turn the time that you spend shopping into extra income? Well, that’s the exact premise behind ProductTube. ProductTube is a premium video survey app that rewards its users for making short videos about everyday products, and all these videos are used for market research purposes to help companies create better products.

There are three different ways to earn money. The first way is by creating short at-home videos, sharing how you shop online or consume products. The second way is about recording short videos when you’re actually at the store, sharing how you shop. The third way is by exploring new product concepts provided by the app using augmented realities.
How to Get Started

Getting started is super easy. Just download the productTube app, start receiving invites, upload the videos from your phone’s camera onto the app, and receive payments in the form of amazon gift cards in five business days or less.

The app claims that you can earn between $50 and $80 per hour by posting these video reviews which is obviously very good and definitely worth a try.

13. Bestmark

Bestmark is another secret shopping website that you can sign up for to start earning some easy money and get free food and services in the process. As a secret shopper, your job is to perform tasks and then provide details about your experience.

Since secret shoppers work as independent contractors, there is no limit to how many secret shopping assignments you can take on in a given week.

Getting Started

To get started simply head over to Bestmark, tap on become a shopper, and then scroll down and tap on apply now. The only thing that you really need to get started is a cell phone and some transportation, after that you’ll earn as much as $35 per hour depending on the assignment.

This certainly isn’t the best way to make money on this list but it’s still pretty good. However, we still have much better websites coming up.

12. Side Hustle DB

You may or may not recognize this website, it’s called the side hustle database. It’s a tool that you can use to sort through hundreds and eventually even thousands of different side hustles and making money opportunities by using the various filtering options provided.

For example, you can filter through and find make-money opportunities that will only have the potential to earn you over 100k per year. Or if you wanted money much faster, you can filter by fast money or even free money and this will give me a long-running list of ideas.

How to Get Started

To get started simply head over to joshuamayo.com, and then click on where it says side hustle database. There is no limit to how much money you can make with this tool, you can either use it to find some quick money opportunities, or you could use it to completely change your financial future forever.

11. Wrapify

What if you could get paid for driving your car, like literally every second that you’re driving, you’re being paid? Well, with an app called Wrapify, it’s possible Wrapify will pay you hundreds of dollars per month to professionally wrap your car and drive it how you normally would to and from work to the grocery store, a friend’s house, a weekend getaway, whatever. The more you drive the more Wrapify will pay you.

How TO Get Started

To get started, all you have to do is download the app on your phone, create your free account, and then meet some of the minimum requirements which include having a 2010 model year car or newer, having no more than 85,000 miles, and having no physical damage that would affect the Wraps appearance.

Basically, what you do is, you just drive how you normally would, and the app will begin qualifying you for campaigns based on your everyday routes. It’s very easy to make between $200 and $400 per month for doing something that you would already be doing anyways.

10. Raise

I don’t know about you but I personally think that gift cards are extremely overrated, and yet for some reason every year we all receive a ton of them, most of which a lot of us will never even use.

Fortunately, with a site called Raise, you can sell your unwanted gift cards and get paid cash which is something that all of us can use.

How to Get Started

Selling your gift cards on this site is incredibly easy simply go to the site, type in the name of the gift card that you’re trying to sell, enter the gift card serial number and pin number if it has one, and then enter the current balance and then how much you want to sell the gift card for.

Once the gift card sells, you’ll be paid via cash through PayPal or bank deposit.

9. Find a Focus Group

Find focus groups is a site that helps you find legitimate paid focus groups in your area. And what’s amazing is how much money you can make with some of these focus groups for example, driving habit study, available in California, texas, colorado, and Virginia will pay you $325 for a two-and-a-half hour online focus group.

Additionally, participants from phase one will be selected for phase two which will pay you one thousand dollars. Finally, phase three pays $375 for a three-hour in-home interview.

These focus groups can be found everywhere, you can even filter by a specific state. If you can’t find any focus groups in your state, simply search for the hundreds of different nationwide focus groups all of which can be done online.

How to Get Started

Getting started is extremely easy when you find a focus group that you're interested in. Simply click on the apply link on the site and then submit the form for that specific focus group. That’s it, simply wait for a response and if you don’t get a response, then don’t just keep waiting around.

I want you to keep applying for as many focus groups as you can, and just continue building up your pipeline of focus group opportunities.

In terms of how much money you can actually make with this website, I know that you guys aren’t going to like this answer but it varies a lot. Nonetheless, this site has a ton of different making money opportunities, you just have to get on there and start applying.

8. US Review of Books

If you enjoy reading then I’ve literally found the perfect way for you to make money online from the comfort of your bed. The US Review of Books is a free website that you can use to read books, review them, and get paid between $25 and $75 per book review.

There is no catch, you get paid for every book review that you complete because there are other competitor websites like online book clubs that also promise to pay you to read books and review them. The problem with this site though is that they’ll often find a myriad of reasons to deny paying you, and so what ends up happening is you spend hours upon hours reading and reviewing a book only to have that review denied.

But that’s not the case with the US Review of Books, a senior editor on the site has said the typical reviewer will read and review eight to ten books per month, which would bring in somewhere between $200 and $700 per month.

If you enjoy reading and you’re already using your free time to read anyway, then you might as well be paid for it.

7. Sweatcoin

We do a lot of walking as humans, walking around the house, walking the dog, walking around the grocery store. How amazing would it be to be rewarded for all this walking? Well, with an app called Sweatcoin you can literally be rewarded for walking.

Sweatcoin is a free app that rewards your daily steps with sweat coins. Although the name sounds pretty gross, you can redeem these coins for thousands of different products and services such as iphones, apple watches, shoes, subscriptions, etc.

How to Get Started

All you have to do is just download the app and just continue living your life. The app will work behind the scenes to track your movement, and you’ll be able to be rewarded for something that you do every single day.

Anyways, the app will pay you about one sweatcoin for every 1,000 steps that you take. And since the average American walks between three and four thousand steps per day, you’ll earn roughly three to four sweat coins per day.

6. User Interviews

User interviews is a site that lets you share your opinions with companies like Spotify, Adobe, and Pinterest and get paid to do so. You can earn money for giving your feedback on real products, and there’s certainly no shortage of opportunities. With over 2,000 new studies added every every month, they’re always looking for people to sign up.

How to Get Started

Getting started as a participant is very simple, create your profile, start replying to studies that interest you by answering a few questions that researchers will use to find their ideal participants. Once you’re approved, you’ll complete the study and get paid within a few days.

The best part is that the average pay for each study is very generous. According to their website, interviews will last between 30 minutes to two hours and will pay up to $300 or more. Online focus groups will last between one to three hours and can pay up to $200 plus, and then finally online studies can last between 30 minutes to as long as several days and will pay up to $1,500 or more.

Overall, this is another great money-making site that you can add to your toolkit.

5. User Brain

User Brain is a website that lets you get paid for testing products, websites, and apps. When you sign up as a tester, you’ll complete various tasks such as signing up for a music streaming family plan on Spotify or looking for a birthday present for your friend on wish. Or find out the total price of your order on amazon.

and you’re basically just talking through your experience as you’re walking through the website or testing the product and giving companies live feedback onAmazon your experience while using their product or service.

How to Get Started

To get started, simply sign up to the website and download the user brain recorder for google chrome or on IOS. The app will then have you complete a couple of sample tasks that lasts about 5 to 20 minutes, and after your account has been approved, you’ll get paid $5 for every five to twenty minute test video that’s approved.

It’s super easy money for doing something that requires no skill, no experience, and very little time.

4. Trymata

Trymata is another usability testing website that lets you get paid for testing apps and websites and then giving your honest feedback about them. A usability test includes a video recording of your screen and voice as you’re using a website or app.

Each test will earn you $10 and will typically last between 10 and 20 minutes plus, there’s no limit to how many test you can take per day. Trymata will send you payments every weekday through PayPal.

Getting started is very easy simply. Head over to Trymata.com, click on get paid to test, create a free account, and start making some extra cash.

3. Nexus Notes

If you are the exact opposite of me, in other words you love school, you love taking notes, and you probably got good grades, then this next site can make you some really decent money. Nexus Notes lets you make money from your study notes, course summaries, lecture notes, or other professional content.
How to Get Started

To start, all you have to do is create a free account, upload your study materials, and get paid every time a student accesses them. Your notes will sell for $35 every time a student accesses them, and you’ll receive 50% of that sale. This means you’ll be paid $17.50 cents every single time a student accesses your notes.

This is a really great way to make some extra money if you’re an existing student, or you somehow kept your notes from when you were in school and you can sell those.

2. Gig Smart

If you’re somebody who’s having a hard time finding some extra work or any work for that matter, then this next website is for you. Gig Smart helps you find available gigs and jobs that are hiring near you right now.

How it Works

The way it works is, that you create a worker profile where you’ll add a photo, add your related skills and work history and Gig Smart will start connecting you with opportunities in your area that fit your specific skill set.

These gigs can range from food and beverage services to even more specific things like a part cleaner at a car mechanic. This is just an example, I understand that most of you are not going to want to clean parts on the side, fortunately, you have full control over what gigs and jobs are being offered to you.

Plus, Gig Smart is available in all 50 states in America so if you’re desperate for work, then this website may just be the answer.

1. Play Test

If you’ve ever dreamed of being paid for playing video games, here’s your opportunity. Play Test cloud is a service that provides play testing for mobile games. Big app developers use this service to optimize their games for onboarding, concept, retention, etc.

The best part about this is that you don’t even have to be a professional tester to start getting paid to play games. I mean they say it on their website “our players are regular people, they’re not professional testers” In other words, every single person reading this article would qualify.

The site says that it tests more than 100,000 games per year, and you get invited to test based on your profile.

In terms of how much money you can actually make with this site, the site will typically pay you about $9 per 15 minute test. Overall though, it’s hard to complain about a website that’s paying you just to play video games.
